Adoption Support Counselling

Posted · Add Comment

Holi Whitehead is a former employment barrister whose experience of the adoption process had led her to retrain as a counsellor in order to be able to support adoptive parents. With this aim in mind, Holi, in conjunction with the Iron Mill Institute, has teamed up with Families for Children to offer individual counselling to adoptive parents as part of her professional qualification process. Holi offers a completely confidential, empathic, non-judgmental counselling service for adoptive parents. You may wish to explore your adoption journey and the often difficult issues that can arise, such as:

  • Thoughts and feelings of uncertainty brought up by the adoption process
  • Feelings of loss and grief 
  • Disappointment 
  • Frustration 
  • Difficulty bonding with your child or children
  • Anger
  • Resentment
  • Depression
  • Relationship difficulties
  • The impact on your wider family

Alternatively, you may simply wish to have the space and time to reflect upon the changes that adoption has made to your life. This is a service for individuals only who have adopted through Families for Children. Please contact Janet Smith Practice Manager Adoption Support to discuss referral to this service on 01364 645480 or email:
