Why Donate to Families for Children?
Many of the children we place have experienced various forms of abuse, trauma and neglect. For many of our most disadvantaged children it takes at least four years after placement, for their trauma to manifest.
These feelings of loss, grief, or of "not belonging" can often be at key times in a child's life, when they are in school or transition between primary and secondary settings, or indeed when they are adolescent's forming their own relationships/families.
Some examples of the effects of trauma and/or neglect are:- diagnosis on the autistic spectrum, severe and complex learning difficulties, developmental delay. The impact of neglect, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, and a range of medical conditions including congenital birth defects, and alcohol or drug dependency at birth are some of the issues our placed children face.
By donating towards our work you are helping us provide FREE specialist support to some of the most vulnerable children and families; a child’s adoption into a safe, loving family is only the beginning of their new lives
Whether you decide to make a one-off donation or pledge a monthly gift, any money that you give will go directly towards our vital work with adopted children and their families. We have to raise £400,000 per year to be able to provide these vital services to our children and families
