Great Cycle Challenge to raise awareness for Adoption

Getting on their bikes for National Adoption Week.

This National Adoption week local Exeter firms WSP have challenged Parsons Brinckerhoff to the ultimate static cycle race to raise awareness and much needed funds to support families who have adopted in Exeter.

Over the course of a probably wet and windy November’s day, members of both WSP Exeter, and Parsons Brinckerhoff will take part in static bike race in the centre of Princesshay shopping centre on November 5th. The victorious office will be the one whose members cover the most miles during the day.

All monies raised on the day will be donated to Families for Children Adoption Agency to be able to continue providing the vital support needed for families who have adopted in Exeter and across the South West. The work they do ranges from simple advice and telephone support to more complex therapeutic support, respite and counselling.

Friendly Challenge

In the mists of this friendly office rivalry, local celebrity chef and patron of the charity Michael Caines OBE will also be stepping onto the platform to go the distance for the charity!

Cyclists will be getting on their bikes on Wednesday 5th November in Princesshay Square from 10am and through until 3pm.

Thanks goes to local fitness centre, Fitness First who have kindly offered the static bikes which will be used for the event.

Jeremy Penfold, WSP senior technical director said: “We can’t wait to get on our bike and race our friends at Parsons Brinckerhoff! This is a fantastic idea to raise awareness for an extremely worthwhile charity. Families for Children need £300,000 every year to support local children so please do come down to cheer us on and, more importantly, donate. WSP is a long-time supporter for Families for Children so we hope to do them proud in Princesshay.”

Please feel free to pop along to the event on Wednesday 5th November from 10am. If you wish to support the cyclists in their challenge please visit their charity page
